TITLE: Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer

COMPENSATION:  $18-$25/hr DOE

Purpose of Position:

  • Focus on positive, professional and proactive end-user contact through phone, email and other means in order to insure rapid resolution to customer issues.
  • Effectively troubleshoot issues and resolve problems related to server operating systems (Red Hat Linux, MS Server 200x), core application stacks (IIS, Apache, MSSQL, MySQL, etc.), network infrastructure (switches, firewalls), and various managed services (managed storage, managed data protection) by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Resolve tickets as quickly and thoroughly as possible and obtain team assistance when needed.
  • Continue to increase expertise and knowledge about applicable OS systems, related software, server configurations and anything else to support Data393 products and services.
  • Assist end-users in successfully configuring their server environments, troubleshooting and escalating problems related to infrastructure and services.
  • Furnish end-users with configuration information i.e. Data393 supported control panels, browser and mail configurations, DNS, and NTP.
  • Monitor, resolve, and escalate issues within critical facilities infrastructure (generators, CRAC units, UPS systems). 

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Automating tasks through the use of various scripting languages: (Perl, Bash, VB)
  • Improving policies and procedures within the support organization.
  • Documenting changes to existing environments or creating new documentation for new deployments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Strong understanding of Internet related technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, IMAP, POP).
  • Experience administering the following operating systems:  Linux (Red Hat and its variants), MS Windows 2000, 2003, and 2008.
  • Background in OS virtualization technologies such as VMWare, OpenVZ, Xen a plus. 
  • Experience configuring Cisco based network devices a plus.
  • Experience debugging dynamic web applications written in Classic ASP, .NET Technologies, PHP, Perl a plus. 

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • 3-5 years SOLID experience with Window Server 200x including IIS, SQL Server 200x 
  • 3-5 years experience with Red Hat based Linux distributions.
  • Experience working with control panels such as Plesk and C-Panel a plus.

Working Conditions

Most work is done in an area where normal office noise is present and people are moving around frequently.
