Data393 Donates Servers To Host Websites Supporting Scouting Organization

Englewood, Colorado - February 27, 2007 - Data393, a provider of managed IT infrastructure, colocation and hosting solutions, announced today it donated servers to continue operation of more than 20 Scouting-related websites managed by the U.S. Scouting Service Project, Inc. (USSSP), a not-for-profit organization serving tens of thousands of youth members, their parents, program volunteers and employees belonging to multiple Scouting organizations across more than 70 countries.

Data393 provides USSSP a managed Windows dedicated hosting environment for its primary website, http://www.usscouts.org/, and for ancillary websites supporting the Scouting movement worldwide. The USSSP is an internet-based Missouri corporation with board members in eight states, including one board member contributing while serving military duty in Iraq.

Started in 1994 as one of the earliest websites on the internet, the USSSP was developed as a volunteer effort by thousands of Scouters from around the world. From the website http://www.usscouts.org/, parents, Scouts and Scouters can find links to more than 20 websites offering enriching Scouting resources, reference materials, historical and background information, monthly features, program support, discussion boards and supporting opt-in email lists. The USSSP’s website, which is not affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) or the World Organization of the Scouting Movement (WOSM), receives an average of 13 million visitors each month.

“We are a group of Scouters using the Internet to share information to augment Scouting programs here and abroad because we believe that character development, citizenship and fitness that are engrained in Scouting improves the communities in which we live,” said Gary Hendra, president, USSSP. “Due to growing demands on our servers, our library of websites was in danger of closing. But thanks to the generosity of Data393, the USSSP will continue to enhance the Scouting experience of our youth members and those adults who coach, mentor and support them. This cooperative effort has even helped service members in Iraq who are helping to build a Scouting organization there.”

The USSSP is not funded in whole or part by the BSA or WOSM and relies on user contributions and public donations to continue the USSSP mission.

“Data393 is pleased to be in a position to help out such a national treasure like the U.S. Scouting Service Project,” said Erik Porter, Data393’s co-founder and vice president of Sales. “Data393 has invested more than $30 million into a fully staffed, state-of-the-art data center that provides an always-on, managed server environment that is now helping to link Scouts across the globe.”
